I've went through a lot of effort to get the best out of my TV / receiver setup, so why should I sacrifice resolution and clarity to my TV's upscaling processor when I can output the native resolution? Simply because they choose to not give me the option to control how I want to handle overscanning. While this works, I'm sure most people using the forum understand why I don't want to do that. I can fix the issue by using resize, which changes the resolution from 1920x1080 to a smaller resolution that fits exactly.

I tried setting Scaling to GPU in the NVIDIA control panel, with settings of scaling to Aspect ratio, Full Screen, and No Scaling. I mean, literally every other setting in the service menu does (all with convenient 'Save to EEPROM' options), but for this one incredibly useful setting, it was decided that saving these values would be a waste of time. For whatever reason, the infinitely gifted Powers-That-Be decided that the Overscan settings should NOT persist through a power off. I changed the initial setting of 22 to 0 for both horizontal and vertical and the problem is fixed! Yay! End of story right? It's not in the normal video setting, but it's right there in plain sight on the super-secret factory service menu (MENU, then 0000). Well, just like my receiver, my TV didn't have that option. The obvious fix is to turn off the TV's overscanning feature. My display is overscanning and cutting off part of the outside of the image. So hopefully that will help someone in the future.Īnyway, back to my issue. After a lot of testing I found that setting CTRL HDMI to OFF has the same effect and I was able to select 5.1/7.1 channel sound afterward. Well my receiver doesn't have that option. This prevents the EDID information from the TV from overriding the amp. After a bit of searching I found that for a lot of Sony amps, you need to change the HDMI audio setting from TV+AMP to AMP only. But it would only allow me to choose 2 channel stereo sound for the HDMI port. This board has built-in Realtek HD Audio, and I had no problems setting that up to go out over the video card's HDMI port. For anyone having similar issues with this receiver, this is how you fix it. It took a little while to get the audio configured properly.

Obviously HDMI has many advantages over VGA, plus I'm able to use one cable for video and audio, so the switch to HDMI was a no-brainer. The above chart shows the Element Roku TVs measured color levels as dots and Rec.709 color. Well I just upgraded my system and now my video card has an HDMI out. The Element Roku TV doesnt boast much in the way of a wide color gamut, despite supporting HDR10 video.
